RD:15 | U20s | Heidelberg United FC v Green Gully SC | June 1 2019
Final Score: Heidelberg United FC 4 : 0 Green Gully SC
Match Report from Coach Ted Latomanski
After a solid win the previous week we couldn’t back that up against Heidelberg United FC.
The 4 - 0 loss truly doesn’t reflect the performance from the boys, individual errors were costly and by half time we were down 4 nil and had a mountain to climb.
In the 5th minute of the 1st half we conceded a free kick 30+ meters centrally outside our goal and it was hit well and straight with much movement and force making it a difficult save for Lachlan.
Then on the 24th minute a cross from the left found a Heidelberg player inside our box and the looping header found the back of the net.
A free kick in the 39th minute gifted Heidelberg the 3rd goal direct shot, ball spilling out and an easy tap in for Heidelberg - poor organisation / shape / marking.
Just before half time in the 44th minute we got court on a break and the Berger’s striker clinically took a shot to our keepers far right.
4 -nil at half time and a mountain to climb.
The half time talk was all about stopping our errors keeping a clean sheet and more hunger & desire needed.
The boys created many chances in the second half, unfortunately we lacked composure and the killer finish. Most of the second half was played in front of the Berger’s defence but we couldn’t finish the numerous chances we created.
The boys did play well throughout that game but the score line flatters the Berger’s immensely, no team can afford to give goals away at any level.
I am sure lessons have been learned and hopefully moving forward we will see less errors resulting in less presents on match day.
The attitude and efforts MUST continue to grow and the hard work will be rewarded.
