S2026 | Taofiq Olomowewe SIGNING

Green Gully is excited to announce the signing of English defender Taofiq Olomowewe for the 2026 NPL Victoria season.

A dominant physical presence and larger-than-life personality off the park, Olomowewe signed his first professional contract as a 19-year-old at Premier League club Burnley FC. The 28-year-old has gone on to represent a host of clubs in England’s National League, including Wealdstone, Dulwich Hamlet, Weymouth, Welling United and Potters Bar Town.

He first arrived in Australia with Box Hill United in 2024, before joining Altona Magic last season, forming part of a formidable backline that kept Altona clear of relegation danger.

Despite finishing 10th, the Magic defence kept seven clean sheets and shipped just 38 goals in 26 games; only the top five sides in the competition conceded fewer.

“I think I’m a no-nonsense English centre-half,” he says.

“I just love to defend, and I love to win. Winning is the most important thing for me as a football player, and to be competing at the top end of the table.

“I’ll do anything to help the team win. Block shots, do the ugly side of the game, and let the strikers shine.”

When Gully came calling, signing for the Cavaliers was a simple decision.

“I actually started at Gully on trial before I went to Magic, so it was an easy transition here.

“Chicky told me he was interested, I was sceptical of going back home [to England], and when you see the club, it really sells itself.”

Olomowewe is particularly looking forward to Gully’s first home game – a Maltese derby against newly-promoted Caroline Springs George Cross on Friday, February 20th.

“I’m buzzing. Any derby game’s important, but I hear this one’s been a while since they played each other, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Please join us in welcoming Taofiq, and stay tuned for more signing announcements as our 2026 squad takes shape!
