On Saturday we faced Heidelberg United at home and landed our first loss of 2020.
We set ourselves a tough task early after allowing Heidelberg possession in the opening minutes, leading them to score from outside the box.
It took us 10 minutes to regroup from that shock, but it soon subsided as we pressed for an equaliser for the remainder of the first.
Unfortunately, we got caught out defensively on the break and a near identical goal was scored in the 40th minute.
Losing Goran Sljivic to a red card in the 44th minute made it a tall mountain to climb going into the second half.
We regrouped at the main break and decided on a 3-4-2 formation..
The boys tried so hard to peg back the score but we just couldn’t find it.
Despite our 10 men, we believe we looked a quality outfit even in the face of a loss.
We’re proud of the lads for not giving up and fighting to the end, as well as keeping a clean sheet in the second half.
We face a top side away this week in Oakleigh Cannons.
If we continue where we left off, I have no doubt we will get the result.
