PREVIEW | R13: Seniors V Dandenong Thunder

It’s back to Green Gully Reserve tonight for our Seniors. This time against Dandenong Thunder.

While tonight was meant to be the last of our new clashes, before the second showings commenced in Round 14, tonight will actually be our second match with the Thunder this year.

In early April we drew each other in the FFA Cup, where we came out 2-0 victors. Though very little separates us on the NPL table.

Dandenong were successful in their clash last week against Altona Magic, taking them just one point behind us in 10th place. A win over us could put them as high as eighth, while we stand to climb as high seventh.

It goes without saying that last week didn’t go as we liked. We were stunned on the road and now have a bit more work to do in order to get back.

Thankfully our points keep us from slipping too far down the table but a poor fortnight going forward could pose serious repercussions.

There is a lot to gain from Dandenong’s perspective. A win over us puts them out of danger and in future contention for a finals spot. There’s also the added bonus of revenge against the side who ended their FFA Cup run.

However, that isn’t reason enough for us to shy away. Nothing is. We can play great football, we’ve shown that time and time again. Despite our position, we still boast some impressive showings this season.

It’s time once again to show what we’re capable of. Get around our boys tonight at 8pm at GG Reserve. We hope to see you there.
