PREVIEW | R19: Under 21s V Altona Magic

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Today our 21s take on Altona Magic at Green Gully Reserve in a game which could see them rise back into the top-four.

Last week, the boys cemented their return to form with an incredible 1-0 win over a fourth-placed Oakleigh side. Despite being down a man in the final 20 minutes the boys kept control and saw out one of the better wins of the year.

Goran Sljivic scored one of the goals of the year off a free kick, bending the ball around the opposition to allow their eventual victory. Jack Cotsanis and Nick Giarrizzo also earned significant playing time in the Senior squad the following Tuesday for our FFA Cup match against Oakleigh Cannons. Nick impressed on the ball with his speed and control, while Cotsanis showed his worth in his grit, vision and leadership. Goran Sljivic and Aidan Lane were among the other call-ups which saw them close out the game with some good involvement.

The boys are proving themselves week after week. They’re back to winning ways.

Altona Magic are facing quite a contrasting run of form however, having lost their last three matches by larger margins and recording their last win in Round 7. Though as we’ve seen time and time again any team can switch at any round and cause trouble for their opposition – just look at Altona’s (Seniors) win over South Melbourne last week.

Anything can happen but either way the boys will be fit and ready to play. Come down at 3pm to see it all unfold.
