PREVIEW | R3: Avondale FC V Seniors

Today our seniors go up against Avondale FC at Avenger Park in Round 3 of the NPL VIC season.

Round 2 was a tale of two halves for our boys, going from 0-1 down closely following kick-off, to a complete change of momentum after half-time, allowing us to tie it up with repeated efforts.

Anthony Poljak’s goal in the 89th minute showed us that reward for effort and Gully spirit.

Despite the countless attempts not falling our way, the boys kept pressing on and got us that consolation.

Similarly Avondale drew against Altona Magic but it was Avondale who suffered in the second half, conceding back to back goals in the 83rd and 87th minute.

After our resilience against Hume, we could very well overwhelm Avondale in the second half.

Though the same could be said about their early pressure.

Avondale will also be without Hilliar and Jakupi who received red cards in last week’s clash.

Combining those with their 5 yellows and we could be looking at a heated contest.

Last year we fell 0-2 at home after Avondale were unable to host us. This year we’re off to Avondale to get our redemption and a chance at top spot (2nd).

The game kicks off at 3:15pm at Avenger Park. We hope to see the Gully Faithful there in BIG numbers sporting your GREEN and WHITE!
