Round 3 kicks off at Green Gully Reserve this Friday when our Senior Men take on 2019 runner-ups, Avondale FC.
Despite an impressive showing from our Senior Men last season, our opening games have highlighted some weak spots in our list.
Without five of our starters, we have resorted to a younger outfit – which has bared positives with their opportunity to gain minutes.
Though in the grand scheme, it has held us back; allowing more experienced opposition to take hold due to our limited capacity.
The last time we faced Avondale, we walked away 1-2 victors following an Alex Salmon goal in the closing seconds.
At home, we fell 2-5 in the game before, suffering two goals from Liam Boland, who was also Avondale’s only scorer in the loss that followed.
Last week, Avondale bounced back from their Round 1 loss to the Oakleigh Cannons, defeating Altona Magic on the road 0-2.
Avondale will return to Green Gully Reserve this Friday with an unbeaten record dating back to Round 18 of 2017.
We hope to change that, and in turn, revitalise our 2020 campaign.
Get down to Green Gully reserve this Friday and help the boys see in their first win of 2020.
GO GREEN.
