Our senior and under 21’s are on their way to Paisley Park this Saturday to take on Altona Magic for Round 15 of the NPL Victoria 2022 season. At 4pm our under 21’s will take to the field with our seniors following at 6pm.
Last week was difficult for both our teams. Our under 21’s suffered a 2-0 loss to Oakleigh despite showing a lot of spirit and drive to take on the game.
Altona Magic also lost last week in a 2-1 clash against third placed Hume City. In the week prior they endured a tough scrap with St Albans which resulted in a 1-0 loss, and in the two weeks before that they won and drew to Melbourne Knights and Bentleigh Greens.
The last time our teams faced we lost 3-2 at home when an 88th minute goal from Altona’s Ahmed Ledom snuck through to squash a late push from our boys. Today our under 21’s will be looking to get that result back.
Last week our seniors were struck hard. We faced quality opposition and were continually having the odds stacked against us. This week we will be looking to use that result as a motivation to take back some points.
Altona suffered a similar result last week against 12th placed Hume City. They went down 3-0, suffering two early goals with a dagger in the second half. Prior to this game they had been putting together an impressive fortnight. They defeated Melbourne Knights 1-0 before an impressive 4-0 result over St Albans in Round 13.
The last time we faced we defeated Altona in a tight 1-0 finish. Luc Jeggo scored his first for the year and our boys were off to a good start.
A lot of football has been played since then and we know anything is possible in football. Our boys will be ready for the challenge and eager to bounce back from last week.
