S2022 RD2 | NPL Men Match Report | Green Gully SC V Altona Magic

After a good win against a strong Oakleigh side last week we were looking forward to the next game against Altona Magic.

We knew Magic recruited no less than 10 new players for season 22. You only need to look at their line up and see that they are ambitious this year, with former A-League personnel and names that have won National Premier League titles in previous years.

We started the game reasonably well until roughly the ten minute mark. I then felt we appeared a bit flat until half time. We spoke at the break about structure, shape and the tempo of the game. The group always listens well and do their best to implement what’s being rolled out by staff.

I feel there was some good fluid play on the day and that the effort from the whole group was there, but we all understood that it wasn’t our best display to date. We created chances on the day and were unfortunate not to get the rewards. The positive is we knew we were not at our peak but we still won regardless.

We noticed a few more supporters at our game than usual so we thank everyone who is coming to support.

Next week we face Port Melbourne at JL Murphy Reserve. We hope to see our supporters get behind us there as well!
