S2022 RD26 MATCH REVIEW | NPL MEN | GREEN GULLY SC V DANDENONG THUNDER

A rotated Green Gully senior team made the trip to Dandenong for the final game of the season. After the Thursday night fixture against Eastern Lions which solidified us in fourth place and with Dandenong Thunder table position already decided from the previous round this allowed for Justin Spiteri, Nick Giarizzo, Damian Barbanera, Garang Arou, Sebastien Giannella, Esrom Paulos and Gavin Tasevski all receiving promotion from the under 21 squad.

Dandenong were defensively solid starting off the game with Gully unable to find a way through. Eventually, after holding on for forty minutes Dandenong struck twice just before the break with a chance against the run of play and then with a penalty.

HALF TIME 0 – 1

Gully started the second half well and were holding their own against this Dandenong side but were just unable to create chances in the final third. They were punished as Dandenong, found an opening after a loss of possession in midfield.

It was not the result we wanted on the day but many positives from the game as we saw this very young Gully side gain important minutes and senior football experience. We now take our focus onto Friday night as we host Bentleigh Greens in the Victorian National Premier League finals series.

FINAL SCORE 3 – 0
