Today our under 21’s and seniors make the short trip to Churchill Reserve to take on the St Albans Saints. The match day will kick off with our under 21’s at 12:30pm, followed by our seniors at 3pm.
Last week our under 21’s and seniors saw contrasting results. Our seniors’ Friday night clash resulted in a 2-1 victory over a fast finishing Melbourne Knights. It was a tense final 15 minutes with goals from both teams, of which included a brilliant header from defender Luke Adams.
Comparatively our under 21’s game had not been the result we wanted. The boys played hard but in the end the Knights took home the win on Saturday.
Today our teams come up against St Albans Saints. The Saints’ senior squad is coming off a strong fortnight, recording wins against Heidelberg (2-0) and Hume City (2-1). They currently place in 6th position, two spots above ourselves, with an equal four wins but one loss less than us (3). A positive result for our seniors will see us jump them on the table and put us in a strong position for our next few games.
The Saints’ under 21’s group currently sit in 10th place comparatively. Of their last five games they have recorded a single win — a 4-1 win against Heidelberg in Round 7 with a draw to Hume City in Round 8.
Our under 21’s last five games also present much the same, recording one win in five games with a draw much the same as St Albans. Our team has been stocked with under 18 products over the last month and is unfortunately without Stefan Stojeveski and keeper/captain Tomas Josifovski.
Our boys from both teams will be ready to go today. We’re expecting quite the contest!
Don’t miss it.
