S2024 RD25 | MATCH PREVIEW | GREEN GULLY SC VS ST ALBANS SAINTS

Green Gully SC will be looking to end the 2024 season on a high, when they commence the final fortnight of their campaign against St Albans Dinamo at Churchill Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

Gully went into the break off the back of a 6-1 loss to Avondale at home, before taking on Melbourne Victory’s A-League Men’s side in a midweek friendly where they went down 6-2 in a spirited performance against Patrick Kisnorbo’s side.

Jalil Regauge scored Gully’s first, while Gianluca Ianucci scored another brilliant goal to continue his fine end to the campaign.

Ianucci now has four goals in his last five fixtures and has been a bright spark for Gully throughout the final rounds of the season.

Now, Ramon Falzon’s side will be hoping to go into the off-season with a pep in their step, starting with a clash against local rivals St Albans.

Dinamo have been the form team in NPL Victoria over the last five weeks, winning each of their last four matches as they look to stave off relegation to VPL1.

Cam Watson’s side have come away with impressive wins over Heidelberg United, Altona Magic, Oakleigh Cannons and Dandenong Thunder during this run, with each of the four wins coming at home.

Central to their turnaround has been the form of new signings Lucas Bryns, Michael Martinovic and A-Leagues legend Leigh Broxham, as they’ve kicked clear of Moreland City and Manningham United in the race for survival.

St Albans’ place in the top flight could be secured prior to kick-off, depending on how Manningham fare against Heidelberg at Pettys Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

If Manningham lose, St Albans will be safe in the top flight, but a result for the Blues against Heidelberg will mean Dinamo will also need to register points against Gully to secure their place in the top flight heading into the final round of the season against league leaders South Melbourne.

Kick-off is at 3 PM on Sunday afternoon, with the Under 23s in action just beforehand at 12 PM.

Gully’s Under 23s sealed the Premiership before the catch-up round after a 2-1 win over Avondale and will be hoping to continue their good form heading into finals against the fifth-placed St Albans – who beat Thunder 2-0 before the break.
