Nathan Simes Joins Green Gully SC Ahead of 2026 NPL Victoria Season
Green Gully SC is pleased to announce the signing of Nathan Simes, with the New Zealand striker joining the Cavaliers for the 2026 NPL Victoria season.
A traditional centre forward, Simes arrives with a strong scoring pedigree and fills a key role within the squad. The 22-year-old developed in New Zealand before winning the New Zealand National League with Miramar Rangers in 2021, then spending four years in the American college system, most recently with Wofford College.
Simes said Green Gully stood out as soon as discussions began, explaining that he was looking for the next step in his career and found both the club’s profile and the standard of the league immediately appealing, which sold him on the move.
On the pitch, Simes embraces the demands of leading the line and brings a clear understanding of what he offers as a number nine. He describes himself as a very traditional centre forward who likes to link play, get in behind, be a pest around the box and contribute through goals, shots and assists.
The striker also brings an existing connection to the squad, having previously played alongside fellow new signing Wan Gatkek back in Wellington. Simes said neither realised they would be reuniting at Green Gully, making the discovery a pleasant surprise once both had signed.
Settling quickly into pre-season, Simes has enjoyed the intensity and competitiveness of the group under head coach David Chick. He noted that the standard is high and that is exactly what he wanted when coming into a league like NPL Victoria.
Green Gully welcomes Nathan to the club and looks forward to seeing him lead the line in 2026.
