Green Gully SC are proud to announce the appointment of David Chick as the new head coach of the senior men’s side for the 2025 season.
Chick joins Gully as the man who will lead the club into their historic 70th year after a successful stint as Hume City’s senior men’s coach.
The Englishman helped lead the side to a semi-final finish in NPL Victoria – after a club record points tally of 50 – and a place in the Australia Cup quarter-finals, where they went down to South Melbourne in both competitions.
Chick said as soon as he learned about the opportunity at Green Gully, he was keen to talk to the club.
“It’s a club I’ve admired from afar,” Chick said.
“Many people say really good things from people and players I know that are or have been here. Their reputation interested me, and when we spoke and had the opportunity to come here, it made an easy decision to come and be a part of it.”
Chick has an extensive resume. He worked at Hume between 2014 and 2017 and then coached at Pascoe Vale, Dandenong Thunder, and Bentleigh Greens before returning to Broadmeadows in March this year.
The former Norwich City academy player said he’s looking forward to the task as he looks to guide Gully back up the ladder in 2025.
“If you start looking at the history and all the trophies when you walk in here, there have been so many great moments here, and I think the club’s hungry to create some more of these memories,” he said.
“I believe we can do that, and I want to be a part of it. In this league, teams can quickly change their fortunes and we’ll aim to do that.”
The club will make more signing announcements in the coming months as we gear up for the new campaign.
