It certainly wasn’t the start we had hoped for against the St Albans Saints, dropping to 10 men in the first.
St Albans opened well and deserved their early score, but we still felt well in the contest as we exercised control for the next 10 minutes..
However, losing Jonathon Bounas to a red card early on made for a tough day.
Individual mistakes cost us at times but that’s football and these things happen in the course of the season.
Though the character of the group and those within will ensure these mistakes are few and far between as we progress into 2020.
With 10 men we still battled incredibly hard, so full credit to the group for that.
When it’s all said and done, it is hard not to credit St Albans for their four goal effort in Sunday’s debut.
As for Gully, we are already back on track.
A solid session this week will prepare us well for the short turnaround against Hume City.
The group is resilient and focused with all attention fixed on Friday night.
Get down and support the boys this week for our first home game of 2020.
