Round one was a tough away game against St Albans Saints SC as we tackled the heat in front of the home crowd.
The opening 10 minutes proved a testing period for both teams.
At the 16th minute, Goran Sljivic went hard at the keeper before the ball found Zoran Sljivic who struck the net with a powerful shot inside the box.
A defensive error handed the Saints a gift to make it 1-1 halfway through the first, bringing us to the main break at 1-1.
The second half allowed us to dominate most of the play, but our efforts were almost undone by a converted penalty awarded to St Albans at the 72 minute mark,
Still in the fight, the boys revealed their spirit and character to peg back a goal at the 77th minute
A curling cross from Waleed Flifel led the ball to Goran Slivic, tying us at 2-2 with his equalising header.
In the last 10 minutes the boys created countless opportunities to see through the draw, unlucky not to snare the win.
Overall a positive start to 2020 with a lot of promise showing in this young side.
This Saturday we face Hume City FC at home with the boys ready to respond.
