Tonight our boys make the trip to JL Murphy Reserve to take on the Port Melbourne Sharks.
Last week we returned to our winning spirit, defeating Eastern Lions 3-2. It was a night of brilliant performances, with Matthew Fletcher taking the lead with a two goal finish and Best On Ground honours.
At the moment we sit ninth, with tonight’s opponents just behind in tenth. A win for them will see them pass us, while a win for us puts us in contention for a future top-four spot.
Despite securing a 1-1 result against a winless Altona Magic last week, Port Melbourne are nothing if not dangerous.
Last fortnight they secured a 3-2 victory over a top-end Oakleigh Cannons. They have managed ties with league leader Avondale (1-1) and second-placed South Melbourne (0-0), and boast a huge 5-0 win over St Albans in Round 6.
Though a dangerous side their results have been one of the most unpredictable this season. In all cases, it’s always best to expect a contest. This way we’ll stay prepared.
We’re looking toward a promising month of football. With a few consecutive wins, we might just take back a top spot.
Kick off is at 7:30 tonight, come down and get around the boys!
