PREVIEW | R4: Seniors V Heidelberg United

Last week our Seniors showed us the true spirit of Green Gully, defeating one of the league’s most decorated clubs 2-0 with 10 men on the road and in tough conditions.

The boys are looking to keep their top spot tonight as they play their second game at home, this time against Heidelberg United.

Despite our slow start in 2020, it was this exact round against Heidelberg last year that saw us return to gold standard, kicking two goals in the second half to clinch back a 2-1 victory at home.

In 2021 Heidelberg are yet to win a game. However, they sit at just a one goal deficit, securing two draws following their 1-0 loss against South Melbourne in Round 1.

Like us, Heidelberg suffered a red in last week’s clash, making their 2-2 result against Altona more impressive than it may have first seen. Even more impressive were the two goals following the red cards in the 85th and 93rd minutes.

Though atop the board, our Seniors could face some real trouble against our visitors if we let our guards down.

However, there’s much to be said about how our boys overcame the odds last week. Today should be no different.

Join us tonight and help us kick off our second home game right! The MMG band will be present, as will all the usual Gully family. Kick off at 8pm!
