Like our Seniors, our Under 21’s also boast an undefeated streak this season.
Currently second place below Bentleigh Greens on goal difference, our boys will have top spot well in their sights when they face Heidelberg United at home.
Our 21’s secured a well earned 2-0 victory over Avondale last week, while Heidelberg conceded 1-3, also away from home. The one they scored for the afternoon was their first for the season.
However, Heidelberg got the best of us in 2020. Despite our best efforts at home, they came out 0-2 winners, kicking both goals in the opening half.
Also, in fairness to their run this season, two of their losses have come at the hands of top 5 teams. Being so early in the season, it is hard to grasp what Heidelberg will be for the remainder of the year.
There is every chance that our scrap with Heidelberg will be tough. They have a lot to gain from knocking us off, and given our experience with them in 2020, they will have a lot of belief they can.
However, our boys are stronger this year and continue to show great character each week.
They will embrace the challenge like they have every other round and give what they get and more.
