Report by Brandon Hutchinson.
Round 4 kicks off for our Under 20’s on Saturday when they take on Heidelberg United at home.
Our boys took out number one spot last week following their 5-2 victory over Avondale.
Waleed Flifel was pivotal with his three goal haul, supported well on the other end by keeper, Sebastian Necevski, who locked up the goals with excellent vision.
Heidelberg’s opening three games have been indecisive at 1-1-1.
Their last fortnight was tough, scraping a 1-1 result against Oakleigh Cannons with a late penalty before losing 0-2 to Altona Magic at home.
In Round 1, they secured a 1-2 win against South Melbourne, with goals from Antonio Accardo and Yiani Dafinis carrying them through in the first half.
But it seems form has only dipped for the Warriors since then – conceding 15 yellow cards since the season launch, with seven last week, including a red to Michael Del Medico.
It is difficult to say which Heidelberg we will face on the weekend, but if the first three rounds are evidence enough, Saturday should prove extremely physical.
It will be a good test for our Under 20’s, and one to embrace as we build toward our second away game next week against Oakleigh Cannons.
Get down to Green Gully Reserve this Saturday at 3pm and help the boys see in another positive result.
