Tonight our seniors are back home to face Altona Magic for Round 2 of the NPL Victoria 2022 season.
Despite a slow start last Friday our boys finished their match strong, seeing out their first three points of the year. Josh Hope, Gianluca Iannucci and Nahuel Bonada were our three scorers for the night and all new additions to our 2022 squad. It was a grind for part of the game but the boys stuck with the process and showed great spirit against a quality side.
Last week Altona faced Hume City at home and ended the match at 0-0. Like most teams, Altona has sought to bolster their list for the new season. They welcome defender James Xydias, who last season played with the Bentleigh Greens and Tommy Semmy who last year won the golden boot in the Telekom S-League.
Altona was one of the few teams we faced twice last season. The first match finished with us winning 1-0 at Paisley Park in what ended up being a tough contest. The match that preceded in the latter half of the year saw us win 4-1.
Despite getting the results in 2021, this is a new season against a new squad. Tonight will only tell. Though no matter what side we face our boys will be ready.
