Tonight at 7:30pm our seniors make the short trip over to Knights Stadium to take on one of our oldest rivals Melbourne Knights.
This Western Derby will be extra special due to it aligning with the 2022 NPL Indigenous Round — an event we have been without for the last two years due to COVID-19.
As two western suburbs teams, Green Gully would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri People, and pay our respects to Elders, past and present. We are grateful to get to share a place in this round and are excited to see how it may grow and evolve in the future.
Last week our seniors came off a tough loss against Bentleigh. It’s a result that would have hit hard for the senior group and something they will be eager to bounce back from.
Comparatively the Knights also suffered a tough loss, losing 3-1 to Hume City on the road. In terms of form, they have been tough to pin down. They have been without a win for a month but recorded their last one in Round 16 against league-leaders South Melbourne.
They have also tied with Avondale and recorded close games with Port Melbourne and Oakleigh, both of whom are in the top-four.
The match is sure to be a tough contest and our boys are eager to get underway. Come down and get around the boys tonight at 7:30 at Knights Stadium.
