S2022 RD22 MATCH REVIEW | NPL MEN | GREEN GULLY SC V ST ALBANS

After last week’s washout against Melbourne Knights the squad we eagre to get back into the tight-packed end of the season. During the week we prepared for this fixture by setting some goals internally in the lead-up to this match due to the tight nature of the top nine standings in the league table, as we are looking for a finals spot.

We started very positively with Alex Salmon finding Nahuel Bonada in behind against the run of play and Bonada slotting it past the keeper. Both sides were able to create chances but nothing came from them with great defensive efforts from both sides.

HALF TIME 1 – 0

We continued to push forward in the second half with repeated headed efforts from Bonada and Salmon late on in this game, with these efforts either going wide or being dealt with by St Albans keeper Willem Lejeune. In the Ninetieth minute, a defensive error lead to St Albans goalkeeper overcommitting for an over the top ball and lead to Salmons chipped effort sealing all three points for Gully.

FINAL SCORE 2 – 0

A solid team performance from the whole squad this week in our push to play finals. With a busy week ahead preparing for the league and the Australia Cup, we hope to see the gully faithful in full strength as we travel to Hume for what is a crucial three points up for grabs.
