S2023 RD25 MATCH PREVIEW | GREEN GULLY SC V HEIDELBERG UNITED

This Sunday we are having a Super Sunday at Green Gully Reserve with our JNPL sides kicking us off from 10am leading us into a Round 25 clash against Heidelberg United.

In our last fixture against, Dandenong Thunder, both teams showed promising attacking display, but they were unable to score, resulting in a goalless scoreline. Green Gully needed a strong second-half performance. In the second half, Green Gully continued to push forward and created several scoring opportunities. However, they were unable to capitalise on these chances. At a turning point, Dandenong Thunder was granted a penalty in the 68th minute, which they successfully converted, leading them to secure a 1-0 victory.

Our opponent for this week is Heidelberg United who last round faced Moreland City in which Moreland won as the game ended 2-1. Heidelberg currently sit in 10th position in NPL Victoria.

Last weekend Gully faced off against Dandenong Thunder, In the 6th minute, Gully initiated the scoring when Greg Siamoa capitalized on a Thunder backpass, exhibiting a composed finish to give us an early advantage in this match. Greg continued his momentum, doubling the lead in the 22nd minute by swiftly pursuing a long ball and executing a half-volley from the edge of the area. In the 76th minute, Joel Brandt positioned himself perfectly to capitalize on the ball parried by the Thunder goalkeeper, effectively placing it into the net and extending our lead. As the clock reached the 84th minute, Gully showcased strong collective pressing, leading to Elioan Kifle gaining possession. Displaying skilful footwork, Elioan found the back of the net, sealing a complete victory with all three points secured for Gully.

Our opponent for our Gully 21’s this week, Heidelberg United, faced Moreland City in which United won as the game ended 3-0. Heidelberg currently sit in 8th position on the table.
