S2024 RD07 | MATCH PREVIEW | GREEN GULLY SC VS DANDENONG THUNDER FC

Green Gully Out To Bounce Back on Home Turf

Green Gully SC are back at home this Friday, looking to end a three-game losing streak when they take on Dandenong Thunder at Green Gully Soccer Reserve.

Gully were no match for a rampant Oakleigh Cannons last weekend, losing 4-1 at Jack Edwards Reserve.

Josh Hope scored the solitary goal for Gully, continuing his fine start to the campaign. Still, ultimately they were unable to stem the flow of Oakleigh’s fleet-footed attack, who had already piled on the hurt prior to his finish.

Stephen Downes’ side’s next challenge comes up against a Thunder side fresh off an impressive 2-1 victory over Dandenong City in the local Derby.

After a disappointing start to the campaign, Thunder have now recorded back-to-back wins and are slowly scaling up the ladder.

The biggest concern for Gully to address this week comes in defence, having now conceded 11 goals in their last three matches.

A response is needed if they are to take down Thunder, who have shown plenty of flair going forward in the last few weeks, led by Wade Dekker and Birkan Kirdar.

Kick-off for the game is at 8 PM, with plenty of food and drink available at the canteen and in the bistro.

U23S - BOYS LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK

The Under 23s are hoping to get back to winning ways this week, when they take on Thunder the following day at 3 PM at Green Gully Soccer Reserve.

The boys suffered their first loss of the season to Oakleigh last Friday and will be looking to prevent that result from snowballing.

Thunder’s U23s sit bottom of the standings after six rounds, but recorded their first win last week against Dandenong City.
