WRAP | R11: Seniors V Eastern Lions

We knew last Friday’s game was a must win in order for us to stay in touch with the top six.

We have clear intent within the group to get back in the top six as soon as possible so the boys started the game with that in mind.

Some great build up play by Shaun Timmins saw us take the lead after a great finish by Alex Salmon. At 1-0 we looked comfortable and I could sense another wasn’t far away.

A bit of clever trickery from Teeboy Kamara let us out wide to find space for Matthew Fletcher to finish with his head. A brilliantly worked goal.

The second half started much the same. We had a few chances and looked comfortable and we got our reward with a great finish again from the big Fletch who was clearly in form on the night.

The collective work rate was very pleasing to see to be honest and at 3-0 I felt we were in control. That being said, Eastern Lions are a team that worked honestly and till the end, pulling two back but a little too late.

We will build from this result and learn a few key lessons, however a win was what we needed.

Eastern lions are not a push over by any means, especially with some good new additions in the window, so it was a promising step in the right direction for us. We fully intend to head back into the top 6.
