Round 4 is coming and we sit on top of the ladder. I’m not sure when the last time Gully was in that position, I dare say it was a long long time ago.
We have certainly come a long way in a short time since we took over the club. It wasn’t long ago that we were in a relegation playoff. The hard work and long hours to train and attain targets feels like it’s starting to pay off.
Credit has to go to the whole squad on Saturday. The lads stuck together and we got our rewards.
Our boys stayed 110% focused on the game plan and were willing to do the hard work for the benefit of the team and the club.
Two goals from Alex Salmon were simply of a full time standard as was his hold up play on the day. Once we got the two goals I sensed the boys were not letting this game go, even with 10 men I could still smell the belief in the group.
To play for 70 minutes with 10 men away to a team that has played in the last two finals and have them at bay is a reflection of what our group intends to achieve this year.
I couldn’t be prouder of our boys. It’s feeling like a group that will give everything for each other and the proud badge of Green Gully we all wear. It makes us extremely excited for what the future holds for us.
Starting to see some old faces come back which is what we want and why we work so hard to put a successful team back on the park.
Join us on our journey. We will see you at home this week when we face Heidelberg United!
