WRAP | R6: Altona Magic V Under 21’s

It was a great win this weekend, coming off the loss last week on a tough away fixture against Oakleigh.

Despite the tough conditions, the 21’s pulled through with a hard-fought victory down at Altona Magic on Saturday afternoon.

What started off slow, conceding a sloppy goal early on, soon turned our way. The boys flipped the switch and got back into the game with an absolute super strike from Zoran Sljivic in the 25th minute.

With the game deadlocked at 1-1 at half time, the boys came out firing into the second half.

The tempo of the game was well controlled, defensively they were much more solid and making more clear cut chances in the front third.

In the 63rd minute, captain Jack Cotsanis broke the deadlock and from this point on it was much more free flowing. A well combined play leading to a clean strike from Goran Sljivic placing it nicely in the bottom left corner, came only 5 minutes later, securing the game with 25 minutes to go.

Altona tried to get back into the game by changing up their formation, rotating players around and getting a bit more aggressive in the last 15 minutes but the Gully boys held their own and secured the 3-1 win.

We look forward to this Saturday when we take on South Melbourne for our first home game in three weeks. Come down and get behind the boys!
