Last Saturday our Under 21’s came up against a strong South Melbourne outfit. Before the game, South were on top of the ladder, with our boys only points behind in second.
Despite missing key players due to injury and illness the boys started off strong in the first 10min, keeping their composure and absorbing the South Melbourne press quite well until we conceded a scrappy goal which put them up 1-0 early.
A huge shoutout to U16 goalkeeper Thomas Simic who made a number of crucial saves and prevented the deficit from being larger.
Just before half time Mohamed Bassal made a great run down the right wing and beat the South keeper on his near post to level up the score at 1-1 going into the break.
The second was a different story with South having the more clinical chances and taking them well to end the game 4-1 winners.
We look to re-group and get back the 3 points this Friday night at Dandenong City.
Come down and support the boys, it is due to be a great hit out.
