WRAP | R2: Under 21’s v Hume City

Our 4-3 win at home against Hume City was well deserved.

Though we began poorly, conceding an own goal in the 2nd minute from Hume’s very first attack, the boys kept their heads and worked their way back into the game, scoring just before half time (42 ).

The second half turned into a goal fest – great for the onlookers, not so great for the coaches.

We scored early in the second half off a corner. The ball was whipped in and poorly parried by the keeper, allowing us to slot the ball into the corner – 2-1 Gully.

Our Football and ball speed was hurting the Hume team, along with our high press not allowing them time on the ball.

A ball over the top caught us square. It was there a Hume striker slotted past our keeper putting us level at 2-2

However, the boys didn’t drop their heads and kept working hard to get the lead back. At the 75th, Goran Sljivic scored past the keeper putting us up 3-2.

A red card for Hume and subsequent equaliser at the 86th minute, bringing the score to 3-3.

BUT not once did the boys drop their heads.

Zoran Sljivic scoring the winner in the 89th minute was a great way to seal the Victory.

A few injuries gave opportunities for the boys to come on and they played a significant role in the final result – great team win.

The effort and desire to work hard for each other demonstrated we have a passionate group who are ready for the challenges in 2021.

Well done. We have Avondale next at Avenger Park – Sunday 1:30pm. Get down and support the boys.
