This Friday night your Green Gully Cavaliers are back at home as we host South Melbourne in our Round 2 clash of NPL Victoria. The last time these two sides hit out was in our elimination final as we played out that fixture and they won that fixture 1-0. We also played South twice during the regular season including one fixture in Ballarat at Morshead Park Stadium and unfortunately did not get the result as South Melbourne saw out the regular season at the top of the table.
Our 21’s host South Melbourne on Saturday and also played one of the regular season fixtures in Ballarat and tied that fixture 1-1 with South Melbourne’s 21’s also taking out the regular season at the top of the table and also the Grand Final.
Last Friday our seniors travelled to Jack Edwards Reserve as they took on Oakleigh Cannons in the opening round of NPL Victoria we saw Thierry Iradukunda, Taylor Schrijvers, Adolph Koudakpo, Pearce Waring, Alan Gerez and Tyler Vecchio all make their league debuts for Gully. Three set pieces from Oakleigh was the difference as Luc Jeggo did manage to find the back of the net but unfortunately, that was not enough.
Our 21’s also travelled to Oakleigh last Friday as some new and old faces filled this Gully squad as they started off-season 2023. Oakleigh set the tempo as they got a late goal in the first half to put them ahead at the break and proved to be the difference in the second half as they furthered their lead to see out the game. They have now had the time to regroup and push towards this Saturday’s fixture.
