We’re back at home and ready to go.
It took us a week but we have recovered from our rough patch in March, picking up two wins in four days against Altona Magic (NPL) and Dandenong Thunder (FFA) after dropping from top spot in the fortnight prior.
The effort was clear in our first match last week, with Luc Jeggo hitting the board with an absolute belter at the top of the box.
Even with a man down at 10 minutes to play, our boys hung in there and secured their three points.
On Saturday we advanced to the next stage of the FFA Cup after defeating Dandenong Thunder on the road.
Anthony Poljak grabbed our first off a penalty kick, followed later by a 93rd minute howler from returnee Matthew Fletcher.
Previously, it was mainly Alex Salmon finding the goals for us. Though talented, it was clear we needed more team offence.
The recent inclusion of Fletcher and goals from Poljak and Jeggo create a lot of confidence in our front end, and should make tonight’s clash all the more interesting.
Like us, South Melbourne also faced Dandenong Thunder (NPL) last week, and like us, walked away victorious (1-0).
They remain undefeated and atop the table so could very well give us some trouble if we’re not careful.
We’ve got a lot to prove now and it all starts tonight. Come down and check it out for yourself!
