S2023 RD26 MATCH PREVIEW | GREEN GULLY SC V ST ALBANS SAINTS

This Saturday we take on St Albans Saints in our final Round 26 clash of NPL Victoria at Churchill Reserve.

In our last fixture against, Heidelberg United, The deadlock was broken in the 38’ minute when Nahuel Bonada showcased exceptional individual skill with a chipped shot from beyond the box, giving Gully the lead. In the second half, Heidelberg found their goal in the 63’ minute when a well-placed header resulted in an equaliser. While Gully made efforts to try and secure an outcome, it was Heidelberg that found the opening with a goal in the 84’ minute, earning all three points.

Our opponent for this week is St Albans Saints who last round faced Moreland City in which St Albans won as the game ended 1-0. St Albans currently sit in 11th position in NPL Victoria.

Last weekend Gully faced off against Heidelberg United, Heidelberg took an early lead with two late goals in the first half, scoring in the 42’ and 44’ minute. This put them ahead 2-0 at halftime. In the second half, Gully quickly regained momentum as they pressed forward aggressively. Justin Spiteri set up V. Souvlis at the edge of the area, resulting in a goal that brought the score to 2-1. Despite the effort, Gully couldn’t secure a result, but their strong second-half performance was commendable.

Our opponent for our Gully 21’s this week, St Albans Saints, faced Moreland City in which St Albans won as the game ended 4-0. St Albans currently sit in 9th position on the table.
