S2023 RD5 MATCH PREVIEW | GREEN GULLY SC V ALTONA MAGIC

Saturday night your Green Gully Cavaliers are back on the road as we travel to Paisley Park to take on Altona Magic in our Round 5 clash of NPL Victoria.

Last Friday we were back at home against Port Melbourne who took an early lead but we quickly equalized thanks to Alan Gerez playing Pierce Waring. Port Melbourne then scored another goal, but just before half-time, Taylor Schrijvers scored to make it level again. In the second half, both teams were pushing for a win in the final moments, Pierce Waring scored again to give Gully a 3-2 victory.

Last Saturday this weeks opposition Altona Magic travelled to Moreland City, with a goal a piece for both sides ended with a sharing the points. Altona are currently 9th just one point behind Gully in 5th, even though being early stages in the season its a very important game for both sides.

Our 21’s played Port Melbourne on Saturday with the first half was evenly contested, but a lapse in concentration allowed Port Melbourne to take the lead at halftime. In the second half, Gully played better and created several chances but failed to convert them. Despite the loss, the team played positively and showed signs of improvement.

Altona Magic 21’s had a high scoring display last week against Moreland City which saw them win that game 5-0. It is another big game for both sides as Gully would be looking to climb the ladder and the Magic would be looking at pushing into the top 4.

Two very important games from our Seniors and 21’s at Paisley Park. We hope to see you all there supporting the boys in Green and White!
