Last Saturday our 21s came up against a tough Oakleigh Cannons outfit – the same team that took a 1-0 win over us just a few months before.
Pitch conditions were tough for both teams. The absence of key players Aidan Lane and Matthew Cardwell were also big outs for us. Though we must give a huge shoutout to Harry Ho, Mitch Graham, and Gavin Tasevski who stood up and did an exceptional job covering our defensive areas.
From the get go it was constant domination of play in the Oakleigh defensive half, the boys forcing some great saves from the opposition keeper.
In the 21st minute a well struck free kick from Goran Sljivic put us up 1-0. From here on it was a strong battle in midfield all throughout the game.
With 20 minutes to go we unfortunately received a red card. Oakleigh pressed and pressed high but it was great to see the determination and desire to hold the lead and see out the game 1-0 winners.
